Clinical activity

He is a stomatologist (degree of Hospital Assistant) at the Stomatology Service of the University Hospital Center of São João, with activity directed to oromaxillary surgery and salivary gland pathology.

He is the founder and coordinator of the Salivary Glands Clinic of the Boavista Health House. He is responsible for performing sialography at Boavista’s SMIC (Unilabs group) and for consulting oral pathology at Hospital Lusíadas Porto.

He also works in two dental clinics, in Gaia and Famalicão, and is part of the FLAP Group (multidisciplinary team of patients with lip-alveolo-palatine cleft).

He also works in two medical-dental clinics and is part of the multidisciplinary team of cleft lip-palate, at Hospital Lusíadas (Porto).

Teaching activity

He is a volunteer assistant at the Curricular Unit of Surgery (discipline of Stomatology) of the Integrated Master’s degree in Medicine, at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto (FMUP).

He was invited assistant: human anatomy of the Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics and Normal Anatomy and Neuroanatomy of the Degree in Medicine, at the Faculty of Medicine of Lisbon; Human Anatomy of the Degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, faculty of pharmacy of Lisbon; and Clinical Anatomy of the Integrated Master’s Degree in Medicine, at FMUP.

And participates in the Course of Implantology and Oral Rehabilitation of the European Graduate Center – Dental Medicine.

Teaching activity

He is a volunteer assistant in Stomatology at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto.

 

He was invited assistant of Anatomy/Neuroanatomy at the Faculties of Medicine of Lisbon and Porto and at the Faculty of Pharmacy of Lisbon.

 

He participates in the University Diploma of Implantology and Oral Rehabilitation of the European Graduate Center – Dental Medicine.

Scientific activity

He did laboratory research at the Institute of Normal Anatomy of the Faculty of Medicine of Lisbon, with study of the locus ceruleus and hippocampus.

He also attended: the Graduate Program in Orthodontics: Bases, Fundamentals and Practice; the Master’s degree in Orthodontics and Orthognathic Surgery: Branch of Orthognathic Surgery; and Specialization in Anatomical Dissection: Face and Neck module. All training scans performed at FMUP.

It maintains regular participation in national and international events, especially those directed to pathology and oral and maxillofacial surgery.

Scientific activity

He did laboratory research at the Institute of Normal Anatomy of the Faculty of Medicine of Lisbon.

 

He also attended a postgraduate degree in Orthodontics, a Master’s degree in Orthodontics and Orthognathic Surgery and a specialization in Anatomical Dissection (all at FMUP).

 

It maintains constant participation in events of pathology and oral and maxillofacial surgery.

Medical differentiation

Pathology and oral and maxillofacial surgery, as well as salivary glands, are the areas of greatest interest.

In this context, he took place: courses in London, Guy’s Hospital (Prof.M. McGurk), and in Paris, Institut d’Exploration Fonctionnelle des Glandes Salivaires (Dr. P. Katz); and internships in the IPO of Lisbon (Head and Neck Surgery Service) and Porto (Surgical Oncology Service) and in the Otorhinolaryngology Departments of the Ospedale Maggiore Policlinico di Milano (Prof. P. Capaccio) and the Universitätsklinikum Erlangen (Prof.M. Koch).

It seeks to keep up to date and follow the course of interventional medicine with regard to minimally invasive techniques.

Medical differentiation

Pathology and oromaxillary surgery and salivary glands, the latest with minimally invasive techniques, are the areas of greatest interest.

 

He has carried out courses in London (Guy’s Hospital) and Paris (I.E.F.G.S.) and internships in the IPO of Lisbon (Head and Pecoço Surgery) and Porto (Surgical Oncology) and the Otorhinolaryngology Services of the Ospedale Maggiore Policlinico di Milano and the Universitätsklinikum Erlangen.
